"Naji" is a charming story that would be a very welcome addition to any classroom library. It could be used to enhance both a language arts curriculum and/or a social studies curriculum. I think students will find it interesting and entertaining. I highly recommend it to any parent or educator.

A charming read that brings to life the sights, sounds, smells, beliefs, and humor of family life in 1942 Iran. An excellent book for parents and educators who wish to explore the culture of this country with their students. I highly recommend it!

Naji and the mystery of the dig is a delightful, culturally rich story of adventure and intrigue that will be subtly instructive to Naji’s age group all around the world, yet bubbling over with the romp and tumble, play and pleasure typical of children in every culture. This is a book that should be on students’ summer reading lists. Better yet, it would be ideal as a literary unit, delightfully tasted and experienced together by teachers and students in classrooms in every culture. The author writes so vividly and life-like, the reader will find herself or himself in the story, hearing, smelling, and enjoying Naji’s experiences firsthand—almost. If students everywhere learned of the cultures of other children through literature such as “Naji,” our younger generations would build bridges of commonality that would become bridges of peace in our world.
